The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services reported 249 new cases of COVID-19 Tuesday, bringing the statewide total to 13,575 since the outbreak began. There have been 783 deaths across Missouri from COVID-19, which is up 10 from Monday.State health officials said more testing is being done and increased numbers will reflect that. Additionally, some counties are catching up on reporting.The state said it has tested a total of 205,161 people through PCR testing — a test that looks for the virus in the nose, throat or other areas of the respiratory tract to determine if there is an active infection — and 6.5% of those were positive. The state said it has tested 24,724 through serology testing — a test that looks for antibodies in the blood — and 4% of those were positive.[ DHSS COVID-19 DATA DASHBOARD ]The area with the highest concentration of cases remains in the St. Louis area. Data released Saturday shows St. Louis County accounts for 4,886 of the 13,575 cases in the state. St. Louis city reports 1,839 cases and St. Charles County reports 791 cases.The DHSS reports 1,315 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Kansas City, Missouri, and 637 cases in eastern Jackson County. Health officials said there have been 27 deaths in Kansas City, and Jackson County reports 22 total.The state also lists 173 total cases in Clay County (outside of Kansas City), 73 in Platte and 96 in Cass County.
