Runners from coast-to-coast visit North Platte

Runners strapped on their racing shoes and met at the North Platte Recreation Center.

Sunday was the Chris Jarvis Autumn River Run. This year was the biggest yet with over 300 participants.

The race is a Boston Marathon qualifier and attracts people from coast-to-coast.

Participants from Oregon and New York registered to run.

Natasha Burch is the daughter of Chris Jarvis of whom the race is memorialized.

She said the race is a special one for many in the community.

"This race was named after my dad, Chris Jarvis, who passed away in 2010. He was a prominent figure here in the fitness community," said Burch.

"He along with Trudy Merritt and Wayne Wallace started the fitness initiative here in North Platte. After he passed away we decided to carry on his name with this race."

The race consisted of a 5K, half-marathon and a full marathon.
