Body recovered from Concord Yacht Club identified as missing man

A body recovered Thursday night from the waters at Concord Yacht Club has been identified as that of a 60-year-Knoxville man whose wife had reported him missing hours earlier.

The victim was identified as Rodney Meryweather, according to the Knox County Sheriff's Office.

Divers with the Knoxville Volunteer Emergency Rescue Squad began searching for Meryweather after his wife reported she had not heard from him since early that afternoon when he was cleaning his boat.

The body was located after 11 p.m.

The cause of death was not immediately available Friday afternoon.
