STARTS RIGHT NOW. SHELBY: SOME BIG NEWS FOR NEW MEXICO. AN AMAZON FULFILLMENT CENTER IS COMING TO BERNALILLO COUNTY. BRITTANY HOPE IS HERE NOW WITH THE DETAILS ON THE NEW FACILITY, NEW ON 7. BRITTANY: SHELBY, JUST A COUPLE OF HOURS AGO, THE COUNTY MADE THE BIG ANNOUNCEMENT. IT’S PART OF A $6.5 MILLION INVESTMENT IN AN INFRASTRUCTURE IMPROVEMENT PLAN AT THE UPPER PETROGLYPHS INDUSTRIAL PARK. THAT AREA IS ALREADY HOME TO FED EX, SHAMROCK FARMS, AND TEMPUR PEDIC. CONSTRUCTION OF THE AMAZON FACILITY IS ALREADY UNDERWAY NEAR I-40 AND ATRISCO VISTA BOULEVARD. COUNTY LEADERS SAY THEY’VE BEEN FOCUSED ON THIS CORRIDOR FOR SOME TIME. Amazon is coming to New Mexico with 1,000 full-time jobs
Amazon is coming to New Mexico, according to a release sent by Bernalillo County Tuesday citing a public infrastructure improvement project. Buried in the second to last paragraph, the release refers to construction of a 465,000 square foot, multi-level Amazon fulfillment center – already under way. According to the release, the facility is expected to open in late 2021. The center is being built near Atrisco Vista and I-40, the release says. Tuesday night, Amazon spokesperson Lisa Guinn confirmed the project. Guinn says the facility will create 1,000 new, full-time jobs. Those jobs will pay at least $15 per hour, and include benefits starting on the first day of employment.
