FALLEN. SASHA: A MAN IS DEAD AFTER A FIGHT DOWNTOWN ALBUQUERQUE. IT HAPPENED JUST AFTER 10:00 LAST NIGHT AT THE ECONO LODGE ON CENTRAL. POLICE TOLD US THAT AROUND 1:45 THIS MORNING. OFFICERS HEARD ABOUT A FIGHT AT THE HOTEL. THEY FOUND A MAN A CONSCIOUS. WE ARE TOLD THAT PERSON THEN DIED AT THE SCENE. DETECTIVES HAVE FINISHED PROCES

Albuquerque police are investigating a deadly fight in the downtown area.Just after 10 p.m. Tuesday, officers were called to a fight in progress on Central Avenue near I-25.Police said, when they arrived to the Econo Lodge, they found a man who was unconscious.After life saving attempts by paramedics, police said the man died at the scene.The department's Violent Crimes Team was called and detectives have been collecting evidence as well as talking to witnesses.This would be APD's 72nd homicide of the year, tying its record set in 2017.Stay with KOAT for updates.
