Next phase of reopening New Mexico begins
BRANDON: THE LATEST DATA SHOWS NEW MEXICO IS PAST THE PEAK AND TRENDING IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION. AND THE GOVERNOR SAYS THAT BODES WELL FOR WHAT HAPPENS MONDAY >> THIS IS REALLY GOOD NEWS. BRANDON: WE KNOW THE GOVERNOR ALLOWED RESTAURANT PATIOS TO OPEN YESTERDAY, BUT NOW WE’RE JUST DAYS AWAY FROM ANOTHER CHANGE. >> ON MONDAY WE’RE EXPANDING THAT TO DINING IN, SO NOT JUST PATIOS, AT 50% OF THE MAXIMUM OCCUPANCY. WHY DO WE DO THAT? BECAUSE IT’S THE ONLY WAY WE CAN KEEP FOLKS SIX FEET APART AND SOCIALLY DISTANCED. BRANDON: GYMS AND HOTELS WILL ALSO BE ABLE TO OPERATE AT 50%. HAIR AND NAIL SALONS, BARBERSHOPS, TATTOO AND MASSAGE PARLORS CAN OPEN, BUT ONLY AT 25%. RETAILERS AND CHURCHES HAVE NOT BEEN EXPANDED AND CAN STILL ONLY OPERATE AT 25% THAT GOES FOR INDOOR MALLS TOO, BUT WITHOUT FOOD COURTS. EVEN AT JUST 25%, SALONS SAY IT WILL BE GOOD TO FINALLY OPEN THEIR DOORS. >> EVERYBODY IS SUPER EXCITED TO FINALLY GET BACK IN THE SALONS. WE’RE EXCITED TO SEE OUR CLIENTS. I’M SURE THEY’RE VERY EXCITED TO SEE US. BRANDON: THE GOVERNOR HAS ALSO CHANGED QUARANTINE POLICIES AFTER FLYING, BUT ONLY FOR PEOPLE FLYING FOR BUSINESS. THAT MEANS IF YOU’RE FLYING FOR PLEASURE INSTEAD OF BUSINESS, YOU STILL HAVE TO QUARANTINE FOR 14 DAY WHAT WILL NOT CHANGE JUNE 1 IS THAT ENTERTAINMENT VENUES LIKE CASINOS, CONCERT HALLS, BOWLING ALLEYS STILL CANNOT OPEN >> THAT’S WHERE WE’RE HEADED NEXT, AND HOW THIS OCCURS SAFE FOR NEW MEXICANS TO MAKE PERSONAL DECISIONS THAT ARE COVID SAFE PRACTICES. BRANDON: ANY BUSINESSES OPENING FOR THE FIRST TIME MONDAY SHOULD GO ONLINE AND CHECK. AS THE GOVERNOR SAYS, PLAC LIKE GYMS AND RESTAURANTS WILL HAVE ADDITIONAL COVID-19 SAFETY MEASURES
