SHELLYE: BUT TONIGHT IS DIFFERENT. THE FOCUS, KEEPING THE PEACE. AND NOT LETTING A FEW BAD APPLES OVER SHADOW THE MAIN ISSUE. >> PEOPLE WILL SHOW UP LATER AND NOT EVEN PARTICIPATE IN THE PROTESTS. THEY JUST WANT TO PARTICIPATE IN THE CHAOS. SHELLYE: CHANTING, CHEERING, MARCHING, AND COMING TOGETHER FOR ONE COMMON GOAL. >> BLACK LIVES MATTER. WE ARE HERE, WE EXIST, WE DON’T DESERVE TO BE HUNTED DOWN IN THE STREETS. WE DON’T DESERVE TO BE TARGETED BY POLICE AND OTHER GROUPS. WE DON’T DESERVE TO BE TALKED DOWN UPON AND VARIOUS THINGS LIKE THAT. THE MESSAGE IS SIMPLY THAT BLACK LIVES MATTER. SHELLYE: IT IS STILL COMING DOWN PRETTY HARD OUT HERE BUT THAT HAS NOT STOPPED ANYBODY FROM BEING OUT HERE AND PROTESTING NEAR CENTRAL AND YALE.
