Pouring rain doesn't stop protesters in Albuquerque
The rain was coming down pretty hard Monday night, but that didn’t stop people in Albuquerque from participating in another Black Lives Matter protest.

“This is a protest, but there is a bigger issue and we need to acknowledge that issue,” said Black Lives Matter activist Nakia R.
Monday’s planned protest was said to be different. Their focus was on keeping the peace and not letting a few bad apples over shadow the main issue.
“I know that people will show up later and not even participate in the protest. They just want to participate in the chaos,” said Jospeh, who joined other protestors Monday night.
People chanted, cheered and marched, all while coming together for one common goal.
“Black lives matter. We're here. We exist. We don't deserve to be hunted down in the streets. We don't deserve to be targeted by police and other groups. We don't deserve to be talked down upon and various things like that. The message is simply that black lives matter,” Nakia R. said.
There was a heavy Albuquerque police presence during the protest, blocking side streets on Central Avenue, to make sure people were staying safe and that things didn’t get out of hand. Protestors said the focus of these protests can be summed up in three words, black lives matter.
