28-year-old Texas man drowns while fishing in southeast Oklahoma, officials say
A 28-year-old Texas man drowned Saturday night while fishing at Denison Dam in southeast Oklahoma, according to an incident report.
Louis Jackson, of Denison, Texas, went to the dam to fish with a family member, the report states. Around 10 p.m., Jackson fell asleep in a vehicle while the family member was fishing.
When the family member returned to the vehicle, they couldn't find Jackson. The family member called the Bryan County Sheriff's Office, and officers found Jackson's hat floating on the Red River, according to the report.
On Sunday, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol's marine enforcement team used side-scan sonar and drag bars to search for Jackson. Jackson's body was found around 4:15 p.m. Sunday, and members of the Colbert Fire Department's dive team recovered the body in about 7 feet of water, the report states.
