Bill Nye is coming to the Science Museum Oklahoma to host a series of events with the Planetary Society in the second week in May.Nye, best known for his 1990s PBS children's television show "Bill Nye the Science Guy," will be at the Oklahoma City museum May 8-9 to kick off the museum's campaign to turn its Omnidome Theatre into a world-class planetarium, according to a news release. Starting at 6:30 p.m. May 8, guests can experience "An Evening with Bill Nye," which includes a VIP reception, a screening of the documentary "Bill Nye: Science Guy" and a question-and-answer session with him."We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Bill Nye and The Planetary Society to Science Museum Oklahoma," Sherry Marshall, president and CEO of Science Museum Oklahoma, said in a news release. "Their mission to advance space science and exploration is perfectly in line with the museum’s astronomy education programs and our current efforts to bring a state-of-the-art planetarium to Oklahoma and our Omnidome Theater."General admission tickets are $50, and a limited number of VIP tickets cost $100. The VIP tickets include the reception, a signed copy of one of Nye's books and served seating for the screening.Doors for the VIP reception open at 6 p.m., and the VIP reception will start at 6:30 p.m. General admission doors will open at 7 p.m., with the screening starting at 7:30 p.m.Tickets for "An Evening With Bill Nye" can be bought on Science Museum Oklahoma's website or by calling 405-602-3760.Nye, who serves as the CEO of The Planetary Society, and host Mat Kaplan will record an episode of Planetary Radio Live from 3 to 4:30 p.m. May 8. The event is included with general admission or museum membership, and seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.On May 9, people can sit in for a talk on Nye's "Jack and the Geniuses" book series at 10 a.m. in the museum's auditorium, officials said.
