PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The cremains of a man who died 19 years ago were found in North Portland on Monday but police have not been able to locate any of his family or friends.

Floyd Hill died a day shy of his 81st birthday on October 17, 2000, according to the tag found on the boxed cremains. Investigators said in a release they learned Mr. Hill went by “Frank” during the 1980s.

A citizen spotted the box outside near the intersection of N. Chase and Chautauqua Boulevard, which has now been returned to the Omega Funeral and Cremation Service.

A spokesperson for Omega Funeral and Cremation told KOIN 6 News Mr. Hill came in about 2 years before he died and made his own arrangements. He designated someone to pick up his cremains, and that person did. He also requested no obituary be placed in the newspaper.

Mr. Hill also served in the military.

Anyone with information that could connect Mr. Hill’s cremains to his loved ones should call Omega Funeral at 503.231.6030.

KOIN 6 News will have more information later in the day.
