PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The search is on for a man Gresham police said tried to kidnap an 11-year-old girl Friday morning.
The girl said she was approached by an older white man in a red sedan Friday morning near Northeast 194th Avenue and Northeast Davis Street.
The girl’s mother spoke to KOIN 6 News off-camera and said the girl is traumatized.
The Gresham Police Department said the suspect is described as having blond hair, a beard and a facial tattoo.
Neighbors said this kind of thing happening so close to an elementary school and park is scary.
“I have kids of my own,” Levi Robinson said. “It is pretty scary being just right across the street from it and you can’t really trust anyone nowadays.”
Robinson said he drops his 6-year-old daughter off in her classroom every day, “just because people are crazy.”
He also said it’s generally a safe area but heavy traffic can bring unfamiliar faces.
“Unfortunately this is a crossover street from Glisan to Stark so you get a lot of traffic going through, he said. “You get a lot of riffraff passing through but unfortunately I think that’s what happened.”
