PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Bird scooters have been redeployed on the streets of Portland, bringing the total number of scooters to 2,630.

However, in the 10 weeks since Lime, Skip and Bolt scooters redeployed on the streets of Portland, there have been 46 visits to emergency departments and urgent care clinics that were related to e-scooters.

Portland Bureau of Transportation said Bird is deploying 525 new scooters. Bolt had 200 scooters on the streets and is now permitted to add 14 more. Spin had 525, and is now permitted to add 116.

The data for Lime scooters is still under review.

PBOT said in the first 10 weeks since scooters have redeployed, riders took 253,690 trips and traveled 307,456.5 miles.

Portlanders have ridden shared e-scooters at least once in neighborhoods across the city, indicating potential demand for this new transportation option in many areas. (PBOT)
