PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The Troutdale Bridge was reopened to traffic Monday evening after a flipped semi-truck closed the bridge in both directions for more than three hours.
The truck was hauling lumber when it entered onto the bridge and flipped, according to the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office. While authorities initially expected the bridge to be closed through the evening, and possibly overnight, the semi was flipped upright and towed from the roadway shortly before 7:30 p.m.
The driver was unhurt in the incident but was cited for careless driving, failure to drive within the lane and impeding traffic, the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office said.
There was minimal damage to the bridge.
Just before 6 p.m. a “heavy-duty tow truck” arrived and began the process of flipping the semi-truck upright. The Oregon Department of Transportation was also at the scene of the road closure.
