Suspect in Carson City standoff identified

The Carson City Sheriff's Office has released the name of the man who was arrested following a standoff in Carson City.

The incident started around 8AM Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at a home in the 4400 block of Morgan Mill Road.

The suspect, identified as 39-year-old Christopher Conti, is facing several charges including Drawing a Weapon in a Threatening Manner, Discharging a Weapon Where Persons May be Endangered, Possession of a Firearm under the influence of Alcohol, Domestic Battery, and Assault With a Deadly Weapon.

Investigators say Conti's grandmother called 911 after her grandson had threatened her with a knife, then started shooting a gun throughout the home. The grandmother barricaded herself in a room until deputies arrived.

The sheriff's office says deputies heard more gunshots from inside the house, prompting authorities to secure the neighborhood.

Around 9:45AM, Conti came out of the home holding a gun to his head. The SWAT team used non-lethal rounds to subdue him and he was taken into custody.

The grandmother was not injured in the incident. Conti underwent a psychological evaluation and was booked into the Carson City Jail. Bail is set at $20,000.

Investigators determined the gun involved in the incident was a .45 Caliber revolver. They say Conti fired a total of ten shots, and that several of the rounds hit surrounding structures.

No other injuries were reported.
