Body found by hiker in Carson City identified

UPDATE:

Authorities have released the name of the man whose body was found by a hiker near the Carson Tahoe Hospital.

The Washoe County Coroner has identified the man as James Tickner, 74, of Carson City.

Tickner was reporting missing on December 3, 2019 by his roommate.

He was last seen November 30, 2019 near is home on Pine Lane.

The cause and manner of death are still pending, but Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong tells KOLO 8 News Now, there were no signs of trauma to the body.

ORIGINAL STORY:

A hiker discovered the remains of a man in Carson City.

On Tuesday, December 17, 2019 around 1:48 p.m. a hiker in the hills between Carson Tahoe Hospital and Lakeview Estates found the remains of an older man.

Authorities say he was largely buried in the snow.

Detectives investigated the scene and the body has been transported to the Washoe County Medical Examiners Office for an autopsy.

The identification and cause of death will be determined by the Medical Examiner.
