Presidential candidate

made a stop in Northern Nevada Thursday.

The Democratic US Senator from Minnesota sat down with a small group of invited veterans in Carson City at the Fox Brewpub.

The veterans roundtable lasted about an hour, with guests and the candidate talking about everything from access to healthcare in rural Nevada to climate change.

"We talked about veterans, homelessness and the importance of employing our veterans when they come home. And some of the really good ideas you get, I get, are from talking to people in small groups and not just reading them in books."

Klobuchar says she also talks to Nevada's US Senators about what matters to Nevadans.

"I talk to Catherine (Cortez Masto-D) and Jacky (Rosen-D) all the time about the issues here in Nevada. Whether it's making sure that we don't send a bunch of nuclear waste here that would be an area that would be very difficult to send it to, or whether or not we have infrastructure like we need all over this state."

Klobuchar says she plans to make more stops in Nevada and will be hiring staff here. She says she's a big believer in grassroots politics.
