Vehicles at sixteen Carson City homes in the southwest downtown area were hit with window-smash burglaries early Friday, Carson City Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Bill Richards said.

The burglar or burglars used rocks to break windows and steal contents from inside, Richards said. It appears to have happened between 3 a.m. and 7 a.m. November 23, 2018.

No description has been released, but the investigation is ongoing and Richards said detectives are trying to review security camera video to develop a suspect description.

The targeted area includes Fifth and Seventh streets and Curry Street. There is no estimate of the total amount lost.

With the holiday shopping season getting underway, Richards encouraged people to not leave anything thieves might want to steal visible in the vehicle.

If Carson City residents hear anything suspicious, they are asked to call dispatch at 775-887-2677.
