Tourism is the largest industry in Nevada but it's not limited to large metropolitan areas like Las Vegas, Reno and Lake Tahoe. To promote travel to rural areas in the state, Travel Nevada brought together hundreds of industry experts for its annual Rural Roundup in Fallon.

As more people make Nevada their travel destination, more money comes into the state. Lieutenant Governor Kate Marshall says in 2018 tourism increased in rural areas by almost nine percent.

"I like numbers so that turns into six million people that turns into two billion dollars going into the economy of rural Nevada and that means emergency responders, police, schools, that means roads," Marshall says.

Marshall says aside from the revenue it creates, people get to experience places that make Nevada unique.

"We went trap shooting yesterday and I can't hit the side of barn but it was good and it was fun," she says.

To help promote travel to places like Fallon, Travel Nevada has created "Road Trips" for people driving through the state.

"Travel Nevada does provide itineraries for people, like how long would it take to get there, and where would you stay and where would you eat and so we have these on our website

," Chris Moran, of Travel Nevada, says.

As of now there are ten road trips like the "Loneliest Road in America," which is the drive from Highway 50 to Baker.
