Authorities are investigating after a man was brought to the hospital in Helena with a gunshot wound.

Helena police say the victim arrived at St. Peter’s Health around 10:30 p.m. Friday, with a gunshot to the leg. He was flown to Missoula for treatment.

Officers say it is still not clear how the shooting happened, or whether or not it was accidental.

The Lewis and Clark County Sheriff’s Office is currently leading the investigation, because authorities do not know where the shooting occurred, and the victim lives outside city limits. Detectives from the Helena Police Department are assisting.

LCSO Capt. Kevin Wright said investigators are looking for two individuals who dropped the man off at the hospital, to speak to them about the case.
