A pilot program used by Albuquerque Police is expanding to other cities.

Police in Jersey City say they too, are using bait packages to help stop porch pirates.

Earlier this month, Albuquerque police said they were teaming up with Amazon to install doorbell cameras and plant dummy boxes with GPS tracking devices at homes around the city.

Police in New Jersey say they’ll use mapping of theft locations provided by Amazon to determine where they’ll place the bait boxes.

“We can monitor quite a few locations with these GPS devices with these cameras, be notified in real-time when something is happening and get cops deployed to that location,” Jersey City Police Capt. James Crecco said.

Amazon would not say how many packages are reported stolen or missing.

UPS and FedEx declined to comment as well.
