ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A man accused of shooting a man and stalking a woman took APD on a chase Thursday. Police took Albert Sedillo into custody when that chase ended near Unser and Sage.

They say Sedillo had just been released from prison and tracked a woman he was stalking to a home in northwest Albuquerque. There, he allegedly shot a man in the leg, stole a car, and took off.

Police then began pursuing Sedillo to the southwest part of the city, where they say he got into another car and fled again.

“What it looks like is this individual was planning on killing his ex-wife or girlfriend, obviously had a car staged somewhere off-site. We are very fortunate he didn’t commit a felony homicide today,” APD Officer Simon Drobik said.

Police eventually used a spike strip to stop Sedillo. Online records show Sedillo has a long history of arrests and was released earlier in June after serving time for shoplifting.

Friday afternoon, Sedillo made his first court appearance. Prosecutors have filed a motion to keep him locked up.
