State officials say a charter school with some questionable operations continues to receive money for hundreds of students who are no longer enrolled.
The Legislative Finance Committee says New Mexico Connections Academy will receive about $6 million during the school year.
That’s because the state bases school funding on prior-year enrollment.
Enrollment has plunged at the school because the state declined to renew the school’s charter because of proficiency issues, however, a district judge overturned the decision in October.
