State health officials say the number of babies born addicted to drugs in New Mexico has risen sharply.
According to a new report, the number of newborns with drug dependencies more than tripled between 2008 and 2017, reaching 330 cases statewide last year.
The head of the UNM Milagro Program which provides addiction treatment, told KUNM that a big part of the problem is scarce services for pregnant women in smaller communities.
