Days before President Trump’s El Paso visit, New Mexico Democrats made a stop at the southern border.
Congresswomen Xochitl Torres Small and Deb Haaland were two of the five lawmakers at Sunland Park. They met with immigrant advocates, visited a migrant shelter, and walked through multiple stops along the border.
“We’re still seeing overcrowding in the holding cells which were never meant to hold families or children,” said Torres Small.
“What I did learn when speaking with federal agents is that we could use more technology, use more immigration judges,” said Haaland.
President Trump is scheduled to hold a rally in El Paso Monday, February 11.
