GREAT FALLS — Health officials added 94 new COVID-19 cases to the Montana Response COVID-19 tracking map on Tuesday, July 28th, and five new deaths.

Note: Numbers reported by the state each day occasionally differ from those reported by county public health departments due to periodic lag times in reporting data to the state. The data below is from the official Montana website on July 28:

  • TOTAL CASES & RECOVERIES: There have now been 3,475 cumulative cases statewide, and 2,104 people have recovered from the virus.
  • HOSPITALIZATIONS: There are currently 62 patients hospitalized. There have been 205 hospitalizations due to COVID-19 since the pandemic began.
  • ACTIVE CASES: The state reports there are currently 1,320 active COVID-19 cases in Montana.
  • TESTING: The number of tests increased by 2,753 over the previous 24-hour reporting period, for a new cumulative state-wide total of 161,408.
  • DEATHS: The cumulative number of deaths in Montana is now 51. The new deaths include a man in his 40s in Yellowstone County; two people over the age of 65 in Custer County (the first deaths there); a man in his 50s from Gallatin County; and another death was reported in Lincoln County.

CASCADE COUNTY: Cascade County reported nine new cases on Tuesday. There has been a cumulative total of 125 confirmed cases in Cascade County; of those, 43 have recovered, 80 are currently active, and two patients died. The City-County Health Department in Great Falls says that the new cases are attributed to community spread or have been found through contact tracing, and that as in previous cases, these individuals have been isolated and contact investigations are underway. KRTV confirmed on Friday that COVID-19 cases at Malmstrom Air Force Base are included in Cascade County totals; however, due to security concerns, military installations do not release base-specific numbers publicly.
