BILLINGS — An early Saturday rush to the hospital resulted in a crash and several citations for a Billings man.
At around 9 a.m., a man was rushing a pregnant woman to the hospital when he crashed into a police car, according to Billings Police Sergeant Harley Cagle.
Sgt. Cagle said that the man was driving a dark-colored Dodge Caliber east on 7th Avenue North near the intersection of North 31st when he blew through a stop sign and broadsided a patrol car.
First responders on the scene had to use the "jaws of life" to extricate the driver.
The driver, 30 years old, and the woman, 29 were taken by AMR to the hospital, while the officer who was hit was taken by another officer to the hospital with minor injuries.
According to Sgt. Cagle, speed was such a factor that it threw the officer's car about 50 feet.
The driver was cited for careless driving, no insurance, expired tags, and driving with a suspended license.
Police are continuing to investigate; the name of the man has not been released.
