Being able to carry a concealed pistol without a permit is one step closer to becoming law in South Dakota.

The measure, which has passed on the Senate side, passed the House State Affairs Committee Monday.

South Dakota Attorney General Jason Ravsnborg testified in favor of the bill.

"I talked with a number of law enforcement officials and a number of them echoed the sentiments of Mr. Hammock, who testified earlier, that they are always vigilant, as they believe they should be, and so I do not have concerns about this bill," he said. "I do believe it is working in other states, and I would support the passage of this bill.

The measure now heads to the House floor.
