Interstate 29 reopened from Sioux Falls to North Dakota

Update at 7:10 am:

The South Dakota Department of Transportation has opened I-29 from Sioux Falls to the North Dakota Border.

Drivers are reminded that winter driving conditions still exist with compacted snow and ice from yesterday’s blizzard and the continued below zero temperatures . Slow down and plan extra time for reaching your destination today.

Officials with the South Dakota Departments of Transportation closed Interstate 29 from Brookings to the North Dakota border at 5 p.m. Thursday and from Sioux Falls to Brookings at 6 p.m.

As of 5 a.m. Friday it remained closed all the way to Grand Forks, N.D.

Motorists are advised there is significant drifting on the interstate and many state highways in the eastern part of the state that is making safe travel impossible.
