DUCHESNE — A Spanish Fork man died Thursday after slipping and falling into a reservoir in Duchesne County, officials said.

About 3:40 p.m., the man, estimated in his mid- to late-70s, was at the shore at Starvation Reservoir in Fred Hayes State Park with a friend. While the pair was walking along the shore near the side of a bridge, the man slipped and fell, rolling several feet down a bank and into the water, Utah State Parks officials said in a statement.

The man's fishing companion was unable to save the man and called 911. The Duchesne County Sheriff's Office and a park ranger responded to the scene and recovered the man, officials said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Additional information, including the man's name, was not immediately available.
