SALT LAKE CITY — Three people are in critical condition, and four others were also injured after a three-car crash occurred Friday at 1000 N. Redwood Road, fire officials said.

Salt Lake City Fire Department reported via Twitter the crash about 2:30 p.m. A total of three cars and seven victims were involved in the crash, Fire Capt. Adam Archuleta confirmed Friday. Three patients were taken to local hospitals in critical condition, and four others were treated on scene and released or transported to hospitals in non-critical condition, he said.

Police are investigating the cause of the crash, but Archuleta said it looks like "somewhat of a high-speed crash."

The wreck closed some northbound lanes on Redwood Road, but they have since been reopened and traffic is flowing normally.
