SALT LAKE CITY — The National Weather Service in Salt Lake City announced Sunday that five locations across Utah experienced new record lows for Oct. 13 overnight.
New Harmony and Panguitch, as well as the Bullfrog Basin, Deer Creek Dam and Pineview Dam saw record cold temperatures early Sunday. The lowest of these was Panguitch, where low temperatures of 7 degrees broke the record set on Oct. 13, 1986, of 10 degrees.
Bullfrog Basin bottomed out at 31 degrees, Deer Creek Dam at 16, New Harmony at 23 and Pineview Dam at 19.
The town of Loa, in Wayne County, tied its previous daily record low of 11 degrees, set in 2008.

Record lows have been creeping across Utah for days. On Saturday, 12 Utah locations recorded daily record lows and one location tied its previous low. All six locations that matched or tied record lows on Sunday experienced record lows on Friday and Saturday as well.

According to the KSL weather center, temperatures will warm over the next several days in Salt Lake City, topping out with highs in the low- to mid-70s on Wednesday and Thursday.
By next weekend, however, highs will have returned to the mid-to-upper 50s with a chance of precipitation.
In St. George, high temperatures will stay in the low 80s and upper 70s all week.
