WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – “They walked right up to the door and that’s why there’s bullet holes right through the door,” a neighbor said.

It’s a grim reminder to neighbors of an overnight shooting that shook their neighborhood in the 1500 block of North Saint Francis.

“We heard gunshots, very very loud gunshots.”

Neighbors tell us after they heard the gunshots they then saw someone take off running down the street. Then moments later, they heard loud screams coming from inside the home.

“And we came and checked and she’d been shot through the front door with the shotgun,” said a neighbor.

Police say an unknown suspect arrived at the home in an orange Mitsubishi Eclipse and fired several rounds into the home, hitting 65-year-old Adela Ibarra. A neighbor tried to offer help until police arrived.

“I was in there trying to calm the kids down that were freaking out and stuff,” a neighbor said.

A 12-year-old boy was also injured by shattered glass from the shooting but is doing ok. The five other people in the home were not injured.

Neighbors say they are in shock this happened right next door.

“It’s just kind of astounding that they actually went up to the house and someone got injured this time it wasn’t kids playing around or something.”

Police believe this was a targeted location and that this was not a random incident. They are not sure who was the target. Police are searching for the suspect.
