UPDATE: Police said the victim died in the hospital. Police identified him as Darton A. Fields II, 34, of Topeka. His family has been notified of his death. 

Topeka Police said one man was shot around 9:30 p.m. on Saturday. 

The shooting happened near the intersection of Huntoon and Lincoln streets. 

Officers say the man who was shot is suffering from critical injuries. Paramedics rushed him to a local hospital. 

Police are searching for the shooter.
