Things are getting spooky in the Historic Topeka Cemetery. The Friends of the Historic Topeka Cemetery are throwing a seance fundraiser Saturday night.

“The séance that we’re doing here is kind of more like a modern day mediumship reading,” said medium Vicky Millard. “What we’re gonna do is we’re not going to summon spirits. We’re just going to allow any spirit that might be hanging around the cemetery to come in and visit.”

During the seance, Millard says she’ll also make time for people in the audience to hear messages from loved ones.

Organizers hope to help people reconnect to the history of the community and raise money for special projects in the cemetery.

“When the families are gone, as are many of the folks here in the mausoleums, it falls to us to look for grant money and try to keep up as best we can,” said cemetery superintendent Lisa Sandmeyer.

The event is 21 years and over. There will be food and drink. Tickets are $60.
