The cold temperatures are causing more water mains to break in Topeka. The latest major break was just west of 21st and Gage Thursday morning.

This one is on the heels of a similar break a few days ago just east of the intersection. A city utilities spokesman says the increase in breaks is not unusual given the recent weather. He says a small stretch of the westbound lanes on 21st near the Gage intersection will be closed until the break is patched.
