Man arrested for Thursday afternoon murder in north Topeka

TOPEKA, Kan. (KSNT) — A woman is dead after a shooting in north Topeka.

Topeka police respond to a fatal shooting

It happened just before 3:45 p.m. Thursday in the 1100 block of Northwest Central Avenue.

Officers said when they arrived on scene, they found a woman dead. Topeka police said an investigation led them to 1225 NE Quincy St. for a person of interest.

UPDATE: Early Friday morning, Topeka Police reported 47-year-old Charles M. Wilson II was arrested and booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on the charge of 1st Degree Murder.

4:38 p.m. update: At 3:47 p.m. officers from TPD were dispatched to the 1100 block of NW Central Ave. on a report of a possible shooting. Upon arrival, officers located one deceased person.
