LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Here is a list of Lunar New Year celebrations throughout Las Vegas.
BELLAGIO HOTEL-CASINO
Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Gardens celebrates the Year of the Rat with a captivating Lunar New Year display open from Saturday, Jan. 11 through Saturday, March 7. Designed to bring prosperity and good fortune to the 20,000 visitors who visit daily, the gardens radiate hues of gold and red with picture-perfect botanical creations made from flowers, seeds, silks and plants. The result of collaborative efforts between designer Ed Libby, Bellagio’s horticulture team and Feng Shui Master George Yau, the intricate creation is layered with meaningful features honoring The Year of the Rat. The centerpiece of the Conservatory is a gilded gold rat that sits on gold ingot bowls – a symbol of wealth and prosperity – atop a golden staircase. Four golden rats are seen frolicking up the staircase bringing more ingot bowls. Two grand 20-foot gold coin trees stand tall on both sides of the garden symbolizing prosperity.
THE COSMOPOLITAN
Lion and Dragon Dance
Jan. 28
The Cosmopolitan will once again partake in an opulent lion and dragon dance throughout the casino-resort. The ceremonial dance will commence at the Las Vegas Boulevard entrance on the first floor of The Boulevard Tower at 2 p.m. Jan. 28 and proceed through the casino, into the lobby and up to the second and third floors of The Boulevard Tower. The dance will pause on several locations throughout the precession to partake in the lucky lettuce-eating ceremony.
China Poblano Chinese New Year Menu
Jan. 20 – Feb. 2
World-renowned chef José Andrés divinely weds Chinese and Mexican cuisine with China Poblano’s specialty five-course menu in honor of Chinese New Year. Guests can enjoy a specialty menu featuring world class dishes including Secret Garden made with black sesame fried tofu, seasonal greens, pear, almond topped with sesame dressing; Dragon’s Pearl made with scallop and pork dumplings wrapped in daikon, mushroom broth and black moss (Fat Choy); Royal Treasure prepared with Soft Shell Crab, golden Mexican blue shrimp, salted egg yolk and pea shoots; Lucky Pot consisting of fried whole seasonal fish, pearl onion, corn cakes and crispy black rice and for dessert, the Golden Fortune, a carefully prepared dish inclusive of Tart shell, egg custard, pastry cream, blueberry and ginger ice cream.
Red Plate Chinese New Year Menu

A Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas original luxury concept, Red Plate, offers traditional Chinese cuisine in a refined setting. In celebration of Chinese New Year, Red Plate presents an exclusive a la carte menu features traditional dishes, including Dried Oyster with Black Moss and Dried Scallops, Half Roasted Duck Hong Kong Style, Stir Fried Loofah Melon with Bamboo Fungus and Fish Maw with Goose Feet Clay Pot.
DOWNTOWN SUMMERLIN
Downtown Summerlin is celebrating the Year of the Rat with its 3rd annual parade on Park Centre Drive at 6 p.m. Jan. 25. Guests will be entertained with an oversized Chinese dragon, a lion dance in partnership with Guan Strong Lion Arts Association, percussionists and glorious fan dancers performing a graceful dance for all to enjoy. The property will randomly distribute red envelopes filled with chocolate gold coins and surprise $10 gift cards to patrons and children in attendance while supplies last.
FASHION SHOW LAS VEGAS
Fashion Show Las Vegas will ring in Chinese New Year and the Year of the Rat with a celebratory affair, starting on January 26. Guests are invited to celebrate the new year with an array of Chinese-inspired entertainment experiences in honor of Lunar New Year.
On Jan. 26, guests will be able to experience the ultimate Chinese New Year celebration with a variety of cultural performances designed by Entertainment Plus Productions. The two-hour spectacle will feature a customary lion and dragon dance on stilts, followed by a selection of cultural dances and a one-of-a-kind lantern light show. Fashion Show General Manager Brent Gardner will be on-hand as the lion and dragon dancers parade through the shopping destination to bless and wish good fortune upon each of the department stores, and feed the lion money to bring good luck for the new year.
In addition, Fashion Show Las Vegas will feature several pop-up lantern ceremonies, available at surprise locations throughout the venue, that will be available during the 15-day celebration.
THE FORUM SHOPS AT CAESARS PALACE
To celebrate Chinese New Year 2020 and welcome the Year of the Rat, The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace has installed a massive 950-lb Chinese dragon display.
A legendary creature in Chinese mythology and folklore, the dragon is a traditional symbol of power, strength, and good luck. A custom creation for The Forum Shops, the dragon will sit upon a lush red carpet and be surrounded by hand-painted wood pillars, gold fencing and red velvet ropes.
While the Chinese New Year begins on Saturday, Jan. 25 and it is the Year of the Rat, the traditional Chinese dragon will be on display at The Forum Shops beginning January 16 and throughout the end of February.
GOLD COAST HOTEL
Due to popular demand, weekend festivities for CNY in the Desert™ will conclude with a traditional nine-course family-style dinner at Ping Pang Pong restaurant located inside of the Gold Coast Hotel at 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 26.
Grand Canal Shoppes
Grand Canal Shoppes at The Venetian Resort Las Vegas will celebrate the Year of the Rat in true fashion with their 9th Annual Chinese New Year in the Desert on Jan. 25. In honor of Lunar New Year, the shopping, dining and entertainment destination invites guests to ring in the new year with four days of live entertainment and activations, available Jan. 23 through Jan. 26.

This new visual arts workshop series features drawing, painting, color theory, sculpture, and more. LAS VEGAS SPRING FESTIVAL PARADE
Jan. 25
The Las Vegas Spring Festival Parade will begin at 9:30 a.m. Jan. 25 in downtown Las Vegas. The parade will feature floats, community organizations, schools, churches and other religious organizations, and secular nonprofits. The main part of the parade will take place on Main Street.
M RESORT
Join M Resort Spa Casino as they celebrate Chinese New Year also known as Lunar New Year with a traditional dragon and lion dance in the M Resort hotel lobby at 7 p.m. Jan. 25.
MGM GRAND
MGM Grand will transform into a Lunar New Year spectacle with vibrant displays of eye-catching floral décor and playful panda bears surrounding the resort’s iconic lion. The displays will abound with over 4,000 live plants, including 1,400 yellow chrysanthemums grown specifically for MGM Grand, with each plant selected for its special meaning in Chinese culture. The resort will be adorned with yellow and red-colored flowers, bamboo for good luck and money trees offering blessings of wealth and good fortune. The displays will be open for enjoyment Jan. 15 through Feb. 4.

Red Rock Casino Resort & Spa will celebrate Chinese New Year with a performance of a traditional lion and dragon dance on January 24. The Lohan School of Shaolin will perform the lion and dragon dance beginning in front of Blue Ribbon Sushi Bar & Grill. The performance will start at 8 p.m.
THE SHOPS AT CRYSTALS
The Shops at Crystals will display a 25-foot-tall and 55-foot-long custom-designed Golden Dragon adorned with 28,000 LED lights through the holiday beginning Jan. 17.
On Jan. 26, The Shops at Crystals will host the country’s largest Yusheng noodle toss at 11 a.m., where store managers will gather and toss noodles in unison as a symbol of prosperity and luck in the New Year. Immediately following the toss at 12:30 p.m., guests can enjoy a traditional Lion Dance performance by World Dance Champions and America’s Got Talent finalists Yau Kung Moon Martial Arts Studio.

Grand Canal Shoppes at The Venetian® Resort Las Vegas partnered with Parker 3D to bring to life a dazzling new dragon art installation in honor of the Lunar New Year. Once complete on Ja. 20,, the interactive display will stand over eight feet tall and measure an impressive 34 feet long. The dragon body will be covered in 5 miles of metallic stranded material and lit by 13,750 computer programmed LED lights with sparkle strobes. The beast is powered by 5.2 miles of copper wire and feature a theatrical smoke show that will create the perfect photo opportunity for awestruck guests. Located near Kate Spade New York and Louis Vuitton, the festive dragon will be constructed with a metal frame and chromed polyester metallic foliage that compliments its gold accents, along with a face a made of hard coated CNC foam.
Thousands of heavily lit warm white lights will be buried in the foliage and programmed with a tiny strobe effect that radiates the holiday spirt to all.

On display at Wynn Las Vegas starting Wednesday, Jan. 15, will be two eight-foot golden dragons that will spread good luck to visitors outside, while inside the resort the Wynn main atrium will feature spectacular 45-foot long silk dragons hanging above 7,000 vibrant orange, yellow and red mums, begonias and calandivas. Additionally, the resort will be dotted with 60 tangerine trees honoring the traditional gifting of this fruit to others as a wish of good fortune.
The beloved Chinese New Year Dim Sum Brunch will return to Wing Lei at Wynn Las Vegas, the only Chinese restaurant in North America that holds a Forbes Five-Star rating.
