Man accused of robbing, shooting mother at credit union pleads not guilty in court

UPDATE MARCH 9: William Cass Jackson, the man accused by police of shooting and robbing his mother at a Las Vegas credit union then barricading himself from officers last year, plead not guilty to all 30 charges against him in court on Monday.

He is scheduled to appear in court on May 4 for a jury trial.

UPDATE 6:50 A.M. JAN. 16: The man police say shot a woman at a credit union in Las Vegas and attempted to run from officers has been hit with 17 charges in connection to Wednesday's incident, including 5 counts of attempted murder.

In his first court appearance this morning, 32-year-old William Cass Jackson was accused by the state of taking his mother to a bank at gunpoint, making her withdraw $2,000 and then shooting her multiple times as she tried to run away.

Jackson was granted $300,000 bail. If he posts it, he must have high-level electronic monitoring.

He is due back in court on Jan. 21.

UPDATE 12:25 P.M. JAN. 15: Las Vegas police say they received reports of a shooting at a credit union around 9 a.m. near Spring Mountain Road and Rainbow Boulevard.

Responding officers found a woman suffering from multiple gunshot wounds at the scene. Police say the suspect ran from officers and fired several shots at them during the chase. He then barricaded himself in a nearby parking lot.

SWAT was called in to assist and police say they were able to negotiate with the suspect and bring him into custody.

UPDATE 11:45 A.M. JAN. 15: Police say the suspect is now in custody.

UPDATE 10:45 A.M. JAN. 15: Las Vegas police say one person was shot by a man hiding from officers near Spring Mountain Road and Rainbow Boulevard.

Police say they responded to a 911 call at a business in the area and the suspect attempted to ran away from responding officers, leading to a chase.

The suspect is currently hiding and the scene is active.

The intersection of Rainbow Boulevard and Spring Mountain is closed and Rainbow is closed from Desert Inn and Palmyra Avenue.

At one point an officer fired one shot at the suspect, police say. It is unknown if the suspect was hit or if they are injured.

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) -- Police are responding to an active barricade near Spring Mountain Road and Rainbow Boulevard following a shooting involving officers. The shooting happened around 9:11 a.m.

The scene is still dynamic, police say. Avoid the area. Both directions of Rainbow Boulevard between Spring Mountain and Desert Inn roads is currently closed to traffic.
