UPDATE: Police brief media about police shooting on Raymert Drive

UPDATE JULY 22: The officer involved in the shooting on July 17 on Raymert Drive has been identified as Officer Greg Amundson.

Officer Amundson is 33 years old and has been employed with Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department since 2007.

Officer Amundson is assigned to the Spring Valley Area Command, Community Policing Division. He has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of a review of this incident.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department briefed the media on the shooting at 2:30 p.m. July 22.

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) -- A person in a truck that was reported stolen was shot by Las Vegas police on July 17.

Police say they received a call about a stolen trick around 8:30 p.m. They were dispatched to the 7800 block of Sea Horn Court to investigate.

They tracked the stolen truck to the 3900 block of Raymert Drive, which is near Desert Inn Road and Sandhill. When they arrived in the area, they saw the truck and attempted to stop it.

The truck rolled backwards towards a police vehicle. The suspect then got out of the truck with a gun. One officer fired his gun, hitting the suspect at least once.

The suspect was transported to Sunrise Trauma and is stable.

This is the 11th officer-involved shooting for 2019. The police department will release the officer's name who shot the person per protocol in a couple of days.
