Water waste causes river of frustration for Las Vegas man

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — It's becoming a river of water worries for Ted Harris and he feels like he's drowning in a situation that's been off and on for months -- and seemingly unending.

"Lately, it's been every day from 7 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., except on Sundays," said Harris.

The issue, according to Harris, is a drainage hole that spills water from a neighboring apartment complex.

Harris admits, the problem is better than it was.

Earlier this year, 13 Action News profiled the problem which showed gallons of water spilling into a parking lot.

"The water was gushing like that for months," said Harris.

The Las Vegas Valley Water District confirms the Symphony apartments have been under investigation for water waste.

The January issue stemmed from a water line which supplied one of the apartment buildings.

Since then, authorities say a "spray and flow" irrigation issue sent water into a parking lot.

A spokesperson for the water district says an investigator will be sent to the property as soon as possible to witness the potential water waste in person.

Harris says he has reason to believe the most recent issue is another irrigation issue.

"People walk by it everyday, like it's their fountain," said Harris.

The Las Vegas Valley Water District encourages people to report water leaks immediately at 702-870-4194.

People can report potential water waste using their website which requires specific dates and times for investigators to observe.
