Residents living near Charleston and Hollywood Boulevards say reckless drivers are back in their neighborhood despite multiple calls to police this year.
Mable Road is no Las Vegas Motor Speedway, but cell phone videos show drivers who seem to think it is.
Neighbors have been pressing record outside their Sunrise Manor homes as reckless drivers race each other, and do donuts and burnouts.
This problem is nothing new, and this isn’t the first time 13 Action News has been in the neighborhood about this issue, either.
It’s the third time since December of 2016.
“There are no speed bumps and they can fly up and down this street at 80, 90 miles per hour,” said neighbor Terry Jones.
Frustrated neighbors say they hear it morning, noon and night.
The problem is so bad, some say they have gone to the extreme to get it to stop.
“One time my husband painted a speed bump in the road, and they did slow down for it and then realized it was totally flat, but it did work for a while,” said Patty, neighbor.
According to the Clark County Public Information Officer, this is a Metro traffic enforcement issue and they cannot build any speed-bumps on public roads.
We did confirm that officers have previously patrolled the area after complaints were made earlier this year, but we didn't see any officers out here Friday.
Neighbors say they haven't seen Metro in the area in a while, and fear that this situation is a disaster waiting to happen.
“It's not a big priority for them because there are very few votes out here. I don’t think they care about it and they won’t until someone is run over and killed,” said Jones.
Commissioner Chris Giunchigliani says she is aware of the problem and is encouraging neighbors to speak out at Metro’s First Tuesday meetings.
13 Action News is waiting to hear back from Metro on when patrols will resume in the neighborhood.
