The following is a roundup of breaking news from around the Las Vegas valley.

UPDATE 11:18 P.M.
Roads are opening back up after a fire at a vacant building in downtown Las Vegas. No injuries to report.

UPDATE 10:30 P.M.
The fire in downtown Las Vegas is out, according to authorities. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. No injuries reported. Crews are on scene picking up equipment and checking for hotspots.

UPDATE 9:50 P.M.
The fire in downtown Las Vegas on Main Street has been upgraded to a 2-alarm fire, according to authorities. No injuries reported.

8:40 P.M.
Las Vegas firefighters are responding to a fire at a large vacant building on Main Street near Charleston Avenue in the downtown area. Crews report heavy flames and smoke. Avoid the area.

8 A.M.
Police say that two pedestrians were struck by a bus this morning on the Las Vegas Strip. Police say they "stepped in front" of the bus. One person is in critical condition and the other sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Fatal detectives responded to the scene to investigate. Las Vegas Boulevard southbound was closed from the Mirage to Harrah's hotel-casino.

7 A.M.
Northbound lane closures are in effect on Durango Drive near Eldora Avenue (near Sahara Avenue) because a car appears to have driven into a pole or fence. The driver is deceased. Police later said that it appears that a medical episode caused the driver to lose control of his 2018 Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid. The 65-year-old driver hit a wall and was pronounced dead at the scene.


6:34 A.M.
Police are on the scene of a crash in the 3400 block of Las Vegas Boulevard South. There are lane closures in effect. At this time, it is unknown what happened.

6:30 A.M.
All lanes of U.S. 95 near Creech Air Force Base have reopened.

5:15 A.M.
U.S. 95 is closed in both directions near Creech Air Force Base in Indian Springs because of suspicious package.


OVERNIGHT
Police are investigating a homicide in the 3300 block of Thom Boulevard near Rancho Drive and Cheyenne Avenue. Police say they found a male who had been shot in the area around 10:45 p.m. Aug. 19. No arrests have been made at this time. READ MORE.
