UPDATE JULY 2: Brian Love, who is the security guard accused of shooting a homeless man at a local shopping center, was in a Las Vegas courtroom.
Love was appointed a special public defender. He will be back in court in late August.

UPDATE JULY 1: The man shot and killed at a shopping center on Decatur Boulevard has been identified as 27-year-old Max Jordan Garcia. No city of residence was listed for Garcia.
Police have also released a mug shot of the guard, Brian Love, who was arrested for shooting Garcia.
Reporter Sean Delancey has learned that Love was employed by SOS Security. According to Kevin Ingram, director of the Private Investigator Licensing Board, the security guard is licensed to work in Nevada and has been licensed for several years.
All licenses require a full background check and fingerprinting. Love also passed the firearm requirements.
SOS Security says it has no comment on the shooting at this time and that they are cooperating fully with the police investigation.
UPDATE JUNE 30: Workers at Massage Envy built a small memorial late Sunday at the Shadow Mountain Marketplace in honor of the man who was shot and killed beside their business Saturday morning.
Nicole Melton and Isabella Cerio lit seven candles, and placed a small bouquet of flowers at the spot where police said the man lay for hours after the shooting.
"Hours and hours he was just by himself," Melton said, "it's at least something. It's the least we could do for him."
Melton said the seven candles represented the seven hours between when police said the shooting happened, 12:45 A.M., and the time another nearby worker checked on the man and called police at 8:00 that morning.
Cerio said the man was a homeless man who frequented the area, and she was inviting anyone who knew him to add their own personal touches to the memorial.
"Nobody should have to die alone," she said, "and then not be found until several hours later. Especially in public."
A security guard has been arrested for the murder of a man on June 29 at a shopping center near Decatur Boulevard and 215 beltway. He has been identified as 26-year-old Brian Love.
UPDATE 6:45 P.M.: Las Vegas police say they arrested a suspect in this homicide. The suspect is an armed security officer who was assigned to patrol the shopping center. He was taken into custody at his apartment and is currently being interviewed at Las Vegas Metropolitan Police headquarters. They say the homicide occurred around 12:45 a.m. this morning.

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) -- Much of a northwest Las Vegas shopping complex in the 6400 block of Decatur Avenue was closed by police tape early Saturday, after police said an employee found a man dead under one of the business's awnings.
Police said the man had been shot several times.
Police began canvassing nearby businesses for witnesses or surveillance video of the shooting.
Police have not said when the shooting happened, and they have not released a description of a potential shooter.
The victim's name has not been released.
Crime scene tape was taken down around 4 p.m. Saturday, and several businesses opened.
