Woman shot at Anchorage apartment on Thursday, police looking for information

A woman was shot outside of an apartment building in Anchorage, and police are looking for more information about what happened to her.

According to Anchorage Police, the unnamed woman sustained life-threatening injuries from the shooting, including a gunshot to her upper body.

The shooting reportedly took place at an apartment building in the 3400 block of Eureka street around 12:08 a.m. early Thursday.

Multiple calls came in informing police of an injured person laying down in the roadway.

Police say their initial investigation points to the shooting happening outside of the apartment building. No arrests have been made at this time.

The woman was transported to a local hospital with a gunshot wound to the upper body. Police say she was bleeding heavily and was unconscious.

Detectives are seeking witnesses and surveillance footage and urge the public to call Crime Stoppers at 561-STOP with any information.

Eureka Street was temporarily closed between 34th and 36th Avenue but has since been reopened.
