A power outage in Sand Lake west of the Seward Highway between Dowling Rd. and Dimond Blvd. impacted nearly 850 customers late Sunday morning, with smaller outages affecting Chugach Electric customers in South Anchorage and Spenard.

Reports of power outages in Fairview and East Anchorage in the ML&P service area were also reported early Sunday afternoon.

Traffic light outages along Dimond Blvd. from the Old Seward Highway to Arctic Boulevard have been reported.

Costco on Dimond temporarily closed Sunday morning after a tree fell on a nearby transformer, knocking out electricity for about 90 minutes. Power was restored shortly after 12:15 p.m. according to Costco employees.

Chugach Electric says high winds are causing problems across its service area, and crews have been dispatched.

As of 12:25 p.m. Sunday, 401 Chugach Electric customers remained without power.

In the Mat-Su Valley, nearly 1,500 customers across the Matanuska Electic Association's service area are without power according to an update from MEA Sunday afternoon.

As of 12:40 p.m., MEA reported several outages affecting a total of 1,470 customers.

MEA says seven crews are working to restore power across the valley.

This is a developing story.
