A 67-year-old man is safe after being rescued by Alaska State Troopers.

AST says earlier this week they got a call of a hurt hiker on the popular destination for short day hikes in the Chugach Mountains overlooking Anchorage.

AST says the man hurt his leg and wasn’t able to get down on his own.

Troopers' Helo-3 responded and took Alaska Mountain Rescue Group (AMRG) volunteers to the mountain to conduct a rescue.

After a short while, crews were able to get the man down safely. They then took him to a hospital to get checked out.
