Anchorage man arrested on federal warrants after high-speed chase through Wasilla
An Anchorage man was arrested on federal no-bail warrants after leading Alaska State Troopers and Wasilla Police on a high-speed chase at speeds over 115 miles per hour through Wasilla Monday night.
Troopers say the chase began when AST officers attempted to stop 37-year-old Nathan Michael Klinger as he was leaving Mat-Su Regional Hospital.
Klinger, who was known by police to have outstanding federal no-bail warrants for being a felon in possession of a firearm and drug distribution, initially stopped for officers before speeding away.
AST says Klinger led Troopers and Wasilla Police Department officers on a 14-minute chase, exceeding speeds of 115 miles per hour through Wasilla and Knik Goose Bay Road.
Troopers eventually stopped Klinger's vehicle with a Precision Immobilization Technique or PIT maneuver in what AST described as a "more rural neighborhood."
After a brief foot chase, Troopers arrested Klinger on the federal warrants.
He faces new felony charges related to the pursuit. AST says additional charges are expected as the investigation develops.
