Anchorage man indicted for South Anchorage murder, attempted murder

An Anchorage grand jury indicted 27-year-old Ian Anthony Bradford Friday for the murder of Dylan Gregg and the attempted murder of Shawn Poloa on Dec. 3.

Bradford was indicted on more than half-a-dozen different charges, including one count of first-degree murder and two counts of second-degree murder, according to the State of Alaska Department of Law.

The indictment follows an incident last Monday, in which officers were investigating a suspicious vehicle near E. 82nd Ave. and Hartzell Rd. in South Anchorage when they heard “popping” sounds coming from inside a nearby building. A body discovered there was later identified as Gregg. Through further investigation, law enforcement also found Poloa to have been seriously injured in the shooting.

DOL officials said in a release that, "Bradford initially denied being involved and claimed to hear shots from inside the building while he was outside." Eventually, however, Bradford "admitted to shooting Poloa in the neck, (and) shooting Gregg multiple times with a .22 caliber handgun."

Witnesses also stated Bradford followed Gregg to a bathroom to continue his assault, and at one point walked over to Poloa and stood over him to shoot him again in the neck.

In addition to multiple counts of murder in the first and second degrees, Bradford was also indicted on one count of attempted murder; one count of first degree assault; one count each of Misconduct Involving Weapons in the second and third degrees; and one count of Tampering with Physical Evidence.

Bradford is currently in the custody of the Department of Corrections. If convicted at trial, he faces up to 99 years imprisonment for each of the murder and attempted murder charges, and up to 20 years for the first-degree assault charge, in addition to time for the misconduct and tampering charges.
