Celebrating Korean Independence day in Anchorage

The Anchorage Korean community came together Saturday to celebrate the 74th anniversary of of Korea's independence from Japanese occupation.
The event at Wendler Junior High School included athletic competitions, dance performances and Taekwondo demonstrations.
David Kim with the Korean American Community of Anchorage explains the significance of the traditional chant, 'Mansai! Mansai! Mansai!'
"It's our happiness gaining independence. Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! three times. That's what we did, to remind us that people sacrificed and made lives they gave up to gain our independence."
