Update:

Anchorage's first baby born in 2020 now has a first name! Mom and Dad have decided to name the baby boy Nova Vaimili.

Original story:

2020's first baby in Anchorage has been born ... and it's a boy!

The mother, Leilani Fagafaga, gave birth to the boy - who doesn't yet have a given name - at 1:59 a.m. on January 1. He weighed in at eight pounds and zero ounces. Fagafaga and the baby's father, Siu Vaimili, say it's their fifth child.

While he doesn't have a name yet, the parents said they are thinking the name will be something powerful that will maybe start with the letter J.

The baby is the first baby delivered to one of Anchorage's three hospitals.
